Thailand Missionary Training Center Announced
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will open a missionary training center (MTC) in Bangkok, Thailand, in January 2024. The Thailand MTC will be housed in the annex that stands behind the Bangkok Thailand Temple, which was dedicated in October. An additional MTC will help to accommodate the training of full-time missionaries from Southeast Asia and other regions.

Elder Rasband Dedicates the Bangkok Thailand Temple
On Sunday, October 22, 2023, Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presided over the dedication of the Bangkok Thailand Temple, the first to be constructed in Mainland Southeast Asia. Thousands of Latter-day Saints attended the two dedicatory sessions in both the temple and the adjoining annex building. Elder Rasband quoted President Gordon B. Hinckley who spoke at a member meeting in Bangkok in June 2000: "The Lord has heard our prayers. He has led us under difficulties for a long season. But now Heaven is smiling upon us. You are pioneers here in carrying forward the work of the Lord in this country, and I promise that if you are faithful, the time will come when a temple will be constructed in Thailand."

Bangkok Thailand Temple Open House Begins
"It’s a beautiful building in a remarkably beautiful city, but it’s much more than just a building," said Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on the first day of the open house for the Bangkok Thailand Temple. Following invited-guest tours from August 28 through August 31, the general public is warmly invited to tour the interior of the new temple from September 1 through September 16, excluding Sundays. At the media day event, Elder Gong spoke of the service rendered by local Latter-day Saints: "For many years, our Church members have been privileged to work with the Royal Patronage Foundation. For example, our humanitarian service, training and assistance provide wheelchairs for the mobility impaired; neonatal training to help health care professionals save infants at risk; and needed water and wells in rural areas. Of course, no one group can do everything needed, but we can each do our small part."

Open House Reservations Available for the Bangkok Thailand Temple
Free reservations are available to tour the interior of the Bangkok Thailand Temple. The public open house will be held from Friday, September 1, through Saturday, September 16, 2023. It is the first temple to be constructed in mainland Southeast Asia. Temples have since been announced for Singapore and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Christus Statue Featured in Bangkok Thailand Temple Annex Courtyard
In the beautifully landscaped courtyard that sits at the entrance to the Bangkok Thailand Temple annex building stands a marble reproduction of Bertel Thorvaldsen's Christus statue. The statue is a beloved symbol used in the official logo of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A public open house for the temple begins on Friday, September 1 and continues through Saturday, September 16. It will be dedicated on Sunday, October 22.

Bangkok Thailand Temple Open House and Dedication Announced
The public open house for the Bangkok Thailand Temple has been announced for Friday, September 1 through Saturday, September 16, 2023, with no tours held on Sundays. Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the temple on Sunday, October 22, in two sessions broadcast to all units in the temple district held at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. A media day will precede the public portion of the open house on Monday, August 28, followed by three days of tours for invited guests.

Construction of the Bangkok Thailand Temple Completed
Watch a soothing two-minute video of the recently completed Bangkok Thailand Temple set to the tune of "I Love to See the Temple." The temple has been turned over to the Church, and members are looking forward to an announcement of the open house and dedication dates. It is the first temple to be constructed in mainland Southeast Asia.

Rooftop Gardens at the Bangkok Thailand Temple Complex
The large multistory Church facility that stands behind the Bangkok Thailand Temple has been softened with the addition of rooftop gardens, featuring trees, shrubs and flowers. When speaking to the early Saints of their duty to build the Salt Lake Temple, President Brigham Young prophesied that the "time will come when there will be one [tower] in the center of temples we shall build, and, on the top, groves and fish ponds."

Project Manager Shares Experience Overseeing the Bangkok Thailand Temple Construction
In a touching 4-minute video presentation, the project manager for the Bangkok Thailand Temple shares his feelings and experience with overseeing the construction of the temple. He relates how building a temple is different from other construction projects and how God is real and helps with problems that arise. An Impression Spares the Bangkok Thailand Temple of Water Damage
During a heavy rainstorm in Thailand last month, a clap of thunder caught the attention of the project manager for the Bangkok Thailand Temple. The noise was followed by a spiritual impression that he should inspect the rooftop of the temple. When he arrived, he found that all the drains had been closed for waterproof testing, and the roof was filling with water. Crew members were called, and they managed to drain all the rainwater before any damage was caused. He was struck by the care the Lord has for His Holy House.

Front Doors of the Bangkok Thailand Temple Uncovered
A special multi-stake conference was held in Bangkok this weekend where Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presided. He was accompanied by Elder Paul V. Johnson of the Presidency of the Seventy and Elder W. Christopher Waddell of the Presiding Bishopric. Among the topics discussed was the Bangkok Thailand Temple, which is in its final months of construction. The front doors have been uncovered, and the front gates have also been installed. The construction barrier has been replaced with a temporary chain-link fence. Thousands of flowers are being planted among the trees. Bangkok Thailand Temple Project Manager Is Baptized
After overseeing every detail of the construction of the Bangkok Thailand Temple for nearly four years, the project manager has chosen to be baptized tomorrow as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was so impressed by the magnificence of the project that it opened his heart to hearing the message of the restored gospel and to receiving baptism.

Bangkok Thailand Temple Is a Jewel in the Bangkok Skyline
Construction of the Bangkok Thailand Temple has been underway for over three and a half years and is expected to be completed soon. Construction began in earnest a few months after the groundbreaking was held, beginning with the highly reinforced substructure that included an underground parking facility. A year later, the first evidence of the superstructure appeared and by the three-year anniversary of the groundbreaking, the building had been fully clad. Work continues on finishing the interior of this jewel in the Bangkok skyline.

Interior Finish Work of the Bangkok Thailand Temple Making Headway
The Bangkok Thailand Temple is luminous at night, glowing from the tallest spire to the ground floor windows. A variety of mechanical equipment and contractor supplies sit on the rooftop, which can be accessed through a door located in the base of the steeple. Inside the temple, finish work continues at various stages including the installation of millwork, light fixtures, railing, and tile.

The spires of the Bangkok Thailand Temple are an awe-inspiring sight when darkness settles over the city and holy light emanates from The House of the Lord. The backlit windows feature an intricate design that coordinates with the ornamented precast wall panels. Built on a small footprint in an urban setting, the six-story temple is one of the tallest in the church.

An Urban Oasis Amidst the Busyness of Bangkok
The six-story windowed walls and towering spires of the Bangkok Thailand Temple are a breathtaking scene from the tranquil grounds of the high-rise condominium complex to the west. The temple is built to silence the noise and busyness of the urban life that surrounds it, allowing a spirit of peace to fill the House of the Lord. The beautiful temple and annex building have been under construction for three and a half years. No opening dates have been announced yet.

Lighting Tests Continue for the Bangkok Thailand Temple
Blue skies succumb to the purple hues of dusk as the lights of Bangkok's skyscrapers come to life and the heavenly Bangkok Thailand Temple radiates a golden glow from its lofty spires and soaring six-story walls. Exterior lighting tests of the sacred edifice continue, which began with the spires and advanced to the long columns of windows along the walls. It is the first temple to be constructed in Thailand.

Lights are located both inside the ornamental grill panels and at the base of the spires, creating a layered lighting effect. Accessible Location for the Bangkok Thailand Temple

For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the temple is a cherished addition to the highly active metro. The largest station on the city's Airport Rail Link, which connects Suvarnabhumi Airport with downtown Bangkok, is seen directly behind the temple and annex building.

First 2022 Video Update on the Bangkok Thailand Temple
The first video update of the year for the Bangkok Thailand Temple has been published, featuring shots of the construction crew at work and beautiful views of the stunning structure in its urban setting. Cladding of the exterior has been finished except for a few panels that will be installed on the spires. The multipurpose building, located behind the temple, was clad at the same time and houses twice the floor space of the temple.

Cladding the Nine Spires of the Bangkok Thailand Temple
The top section of the center spire that rises over the Bangkok Thailand Temple has been clad in ornamental precast concrete panels. Cladding of all nine spires is anticipated to be completed by the end of the month. The multipurpose building that sits north of the temple has already been clad, and interior framing and system installation is underway. Scaffolding has been erected around the towering central spire frame of the Bangkok Thailand Temple, which was installed several weeks ago. With ornamental panels in place on the main body of the temple, only the upper structures remain to be clad including the nine spires. Central Spire Frame Added to the Bangkok Thailand Temple
The frame for the central spire of the Bangkok Thailand Temple has been installed atop the roof, joining eight smaller spires that stand on the north and south sides. Cladding of the exteriors of the temple and the multipurpose building is making excellent progress and is nearing the top floors of the buildings. Several of the smaller spires of the temple have been clad as well. The six-story temple is among the tallest that the Church has constructed.

Ornamental panels are being fastened to the spire frames along the north edge of the Bangkok Thailand Temple while cladding continues up the exterior walls of the main body of the building. Precast panels have reached the top of the fifth floor where the south central face terminates in a series of wall caps and recesses to the depth of the flanking columns. Cladding of the multipurpose facility behind the temple is progressing at approximately the same pace. Watch the August update video.

June Video Update on the Bangkok Thailand Temple
Construction progress on the Bangkok Thailand Temple can be seen in a new video update. Window frame installation is progressing, and cladding of the temple exterior in concrete panels has started on the fourth floor. Cladding of the multipurpose building is following shortly behind. The accompanying photograph gives a view of the front side of the temple, which faces south. The frames for several of the small spires can be seen rising above the debris net.

The second and third floors of the Bangkok Thailand Temple have been clad in precast concrete panels, leaving a debris net around the top three floors only. Frames for several of the smaller spires on the north and south sides have been installed atop the temple, but the center spire has not yet been framed. Cladding of the multipurpose building behind the temple has progressed to the second level.

Installing the Spire Frames Atop the Bangkok Thailand Temple
The structural framing for the main body of the Bangkok Thailand Temple has been completed, leaving only the installation of the steel frames for the nine spires that will decorate the top of the building—a central spire surrounded by two spires on each of the four sides. The first two frames were installed for the spires on the north side followed by the large frame for the spire in the center. The attachment of precast concrete exterior panels is progressing to the second and third floors of the temple. A breezeway has been constructed in the courtyard between the temple and multipurpose building, which is also being clad in concrete panels. Watch a video update on the construction progress.

Installing Pilasters and Glass in the Bangkok Thailand Temple
Much of the ground floor of the Bangkok Thailand Temple has been clad in attractive precast concrete panels. Stately pilasters are being hung between the window panels that were installed previously. Temporary glass is being installed in the window openings and obscured with a light-blue sheeting. Cladding has also begun on west side of the multipurpose building, matching the color and basic style of the temple cladding.

Final Story Framed for the Bangkok Thailand Temple
Structural framing for the Bangkok Thailand Temple has reached the sixth and final level while precast concrete panels continue to be attached to the main level. The multipurpose facility behind the temple has also reached the sixth level and is being clad in panels. The groundbreaking ceremony for the temple was held two years ago this month.
