On November 28, 2022, the location of the Wellington New Zealand Temple was announced as a 3.35-acre site near the intersection of Okowai Road and Whitford Brown Avenue in the Aotea neighborhood of Porirua. Temple Announcement

On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Wellington New Zealand Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. This will be New Zealand's third temple. Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, is located on the southwestern tip of the North Island. At the time of the announcement, the Auckland New Zealand Temple was under construction, and the Hamilton New Zealand Temple was completing renovation. The first New Zealand converts to the Church of Jesus Christ were baptized in 1853. Shortly afterward, missionary work began — including among the native Māori people. Around 115,000 Latter-day Saints live in New Zealand.2

Temple Facts
