A Rome Mission Tradition: Photographs at the TempleNew arrivals to the Italy Rome Mission begin their Italian missionary experience with photographs at the beautiful Rome Italy Temple, as many do not return to Rome until their missions conclude. Scaffolding has surrounded the temple towers for approximately a year.

Fasting and Praying for Progress in ItalyMembers of the Rome Italy East Stake dedicated their fast this month to the construction progress of the Rome Italy Temple and to the workers' ability to build to the standards required by the Church. Little has changed on the exterior for several months, but work continues slowly inside.

President Uchtdorf Visits the Rome Italy TemplePresident Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency, visited Western Europe to celebrate several milestones of the Church. He met with Church members, leaders, and dignitaries in Switzerland, Italy, and Poland in June, including a visit to the Rome Italy Temple.

Italy's 10th Stake Created in FlorenceAs the Rome Italy Temple rises in the Eternal City, so does the number of members in Italy. Yesterday, the country's tenth stake was created in historic Florence, the capital of Italy's Tuscany region. One district remains in the "toe" region of Calabria.

More Scaffolding Added to Rome Italy TempleAugust is the traditional vacation month in Italy, and even work on the Rome Italy Temple was suspended for several days, but September has brought new activity, including the addition of scaffolding above the towers. Tall, slender spires will soon be attached to the tower framework.

Rome Granite Nearly FinishedThe walls of the Rome Italy Temple, curved in the Baroque Revival style, have nearly all been covered in slabs of contoured polished granite. The curved lines continue on the inside, creating unique challenges such as hanging walls and artwork. Construction continues on the other three buildings in the complex, which will surround a traditional central plaza open to the public.

Scaffolding surrounds the structure including the bases of the towers that will stand on each end. Church membership is growing in Italy where 8 stakes and 5 districts are organized.

Rome Italy Temple: Exterior and Interior Work UnderwayPallets have arrived at the construction site of the Rome Italy Temple carrying beautiful granite, which is being attached to the exterior of the holy structure. On the interior, workers are running utilities and hanging sheetrock. Completion is indefinite but may be as early as next year.

Rome Italy Temple Looms Over Via di SettebagniMotorists traveling in northern Rome are taking note of the rising Rome Italy Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located just off the circular beltway that surrounds the city. The temple will feature two towers—one on each end. Work is currently underway on the bases for the towers.

Rome Italy Temple Grows TallerFraming is progressing steadily on the Rome Italy Temple, which has reached the full height of the occupiable space of the building. Three other buildings are under construction including a visitors' center, which is expected to feature reproductions of Thorvaldsen's Christus statue and his statues of the twelve apostles.

Excavation Efforts Continue at Rome Italy Temple ComplexThe sound of earth movers has filled the air over the 15-acre site in northeast Rome where the Rome Italy Temple is under construction. A new tunnel has been carved out between the patron housing facility and temple excavation sites, and digging for the visitors' center and stake center has begun.
