The granite-faced monument sign at the Hartford Connecticut Temple is nearing completion. The name of the Church, the temple, and the address (2 Central Way) are all inscribed in stone. The temple opens to the public for three weeks in October.

Pedestrian Gate Will Allow Access to the Hartford Connecticut Temple Grounds
A new photograph of the Hartford Connecticut Temple shows an opening in the stone perimeter wall along Route 4, which will give pedestrians access to the landscaped temple grounds. The concrete pillars that stand beyond the opening will be faced with granite and will serve as both lampposts and anchors to the decorative gate that will be installed between them. Construction of the temple is expected to be completed before the end of this year.

Progress can be seen on the shingling work for the Hartford Connecticut Temple spire, which was delivered to the site several weeks ago. The handsome structure will complete the distinctive New England-style steeple that will crown the building. Concrete has been poured for a beautiful rock wall that will run along the property next to the main road—Farmington Avenue. And a gravel bed has been laid for the driveway that enters the temple site.

Following the tradition of New England architecture, the temple will feature many classical elements including Ionic columns supporting a pediment, square lattice windows, and a frieze bearing the inscription Holiness to the Lord—The House of the Lord.

Demolition of the existing building at the Hartford Connecticut Temple site is anticipated to begin sometime after the end of June when a business operating there will have relocated. The building formerly served as the Whitman Restaurant. A date for the groundbreaking has not been announced.

Plan and Zoning Commission OKs Hartford Temple Plans
On Tuesday, the Town Plan and Zoning Commission resumed a public hearing to receive input on the Hartford Connecticut Temple project. After taking comments, including concerns about increased traffic on Route 4, the commissioners unanimously approved the request.
