With the concrete slab poured for the basement floor of the Hartford Connecticut Temple, forms and rebar are now being set in place for pouring the walls. The basement of the temple will house the baptistry.

Pouring Slab Foundation for the Hartford Connecticut Temple
Despite temperatures in the upper teens, concrete pumps and mixers have arrived to pour the slab foundation for the Hartford Connecticut Temple. A handful of trucks are working round-robin fashion to deliver 800-900 cubic yards of concrete from nearby Farmington Ready-Mix Concrete.

Preparing to Pour Font Slab for Hartford Connecticut Temple
At the Hartford Connecticut Temple site, construction workers are carrying heavy rods of rebar to the excavation area where a 4-foot thick mat-slab foundation will be poured for the floor of the baptistry. If weather permits, the pour could take place as early as next Tuesday.

At the site of the Hartford Connecticut Temple, demolition crews are razing the existing structures—including an office building and residences—to make way for the beautiful temple complex. Ground will be formally broken for the edifice in two and a half weeks on Saturday, August 17.

On Saturday, August 17, at 11:00 a.m., ground will be formally broken for the Hartford Connecticut Temple. All are invited to participate in the historic event via satellite broadcast to local chapels. Due to limited parking, attendnace at the temple site is by invitation only.

Construction of Hartford Temple Expected to Begin this Summer
Demolition of the existing building at the Hartford Connecticut Temple site is anticipated to begin sometime after the end of June when a business operating there will have relocated. The building formerly served as the Whitman Restaurant. A date for the groundbreaking has not been announced.

Plan and Zoning Commission OKs Hartford Temple Plans
On Tuesday, the Town Plan and Zoning Commission resumed a public hearing to receive input on the Hartford Connecticut Temple project. After taking comments, including concerns about increased traffic on Route 4, the commissioners unanimously approved the request.

"Clearly, when we baptize, our eyes should gaze beyond the baptismal font to the holy temple. The great garner into which the sheaves should be gathered is the holy temple."
